Safety Guidance

Practical steps before, during and after arranging to meet someone.

Before you meet

  • Speak first. A short call tells you more than a long exchange of messages.
  • Tell someone where you are going and when you expect to be back.
  • Never send money in advance, and never share financial or identity documents. No legitimate arrangement requires either.

Meeting

  • Choose a public place for a first meeting.
  • Arrange your own transport, so leaving is always your decision.
  • Keep your phone charged and with you.

If something goes wrong

Leave. Contact your local emergency services if you are in danger. When you are safe, report the listing — the report link is on every one — so it can be acted on and so a pattern can be seen if others report the same person.

What we do and do not verify

Listing content is not verified unless a verified badge is shown. A badge means documents were checked at a point in time; it is not a guarantee about anyone's conduct.
